Autumn Shoot 13th September 2015

This year’s Westcombe Field Archers September shoot is set to be the most enjoyable shoots that has been hosted by the club. Extensive work has been carried out on the course this year in order to create a course that will test the skill of every competitor. The date of the shoot is Sunday 13th September 2015

The course will be laid in three loops and will consist of 38 3D targets and all 3D targets will be complete with either a foam backstop or a natural backstop that has been checked to ensure it isn’t full of flint and stones and this should hopefully reduce arrow damage and losses. The scoring will be Big Game scoring as follows:

First Kill = 24 First Wound = 16 spring shoot 1

Second Kill = 14 Second Wound = 10

Third Kill = 8 Third Wound = 4

a)    Adults (archers 16 years of age and over) shoot their first arrow from the red peg.  If this arrow does not score a second shot is taken from the white peg.  If the second arrow does not score a third shot from the blue peg.

b)    Archers aged 14 years of age and under 16 (‘Juniors – under 16’) shoot their first arrow from the white peg.  If additional arrows are required, both of these are shot from the blue peg.

c)    Archers aged 12 years of age and under 14 (‘Juniors – under 14’) shoot their first arrow from the blue peg.  If additional arrows are required, both of these are shot from the yellow peg.  Yellow pegs should be suitably positioned to take into account the small stature and low bow weight of most young archers.

d)    Archers 9 years of age and under 12 years of age (‘Cubs over 9’) shoot their first arrow from the yellow peg.  If additional arrows are required, these are also shot from the yellow peg.

e)    Archers aged under 9 years of age (‘Cubs under 9’) shoot their first arrow from the orange peg. If additional arrows are required, these are also shot from the orange peg.

spring shoot raffleAs always there will be full catering on the day and this will include the burgers, bacon and sausages that everyone loves. We will also be experimenting with expanding the catering to include some other options to keep your belly full (anyone who came to our last September shoot will know how good the soup was) and there will be plenty of tea, coffee and cake to keep you going.

There will also be a raffle to help generate some much needed funds for the club and the prizes will include the sort of thing in the picture on the right (this was taken before the table was filled) but there will be plenty on offer to make it worth buying a few tickets and helping support the club so that we can continue to host the best possible shoots we can.
